Calling One Driving!

You may be at home/office sitting safely but the caller or the person you are calling may be driving! One should not pick-up phone (or dial) when driving but we know many people around us do not appreciate the dangers and continue to use cell phone while driving.

If you are calling other person in connection with official or personal business, it is worth asking, “are you driving?” AND politely terminate the call if the person is driving. I am also attaching a presentation that may help you understand and educate others as to why talking on phone while driving is not safe and how does our brain get distracted
Let them know all you care!

To an Unforgetable Mother

This was sent to me by A Friend……………………

To an unforgetable mother

I had a marvelous mother, who loved me,

Sacrificed for me and helped me in every way possible.

In all of my growing up from childhood through

School and eventually marriage,

My mother was always at my side.

And when I needed help with my little ones,

She was there for me.

A few years ago, we buried this wonderful woman.

Can you imagine how I felt when I returned home and found a poem in her drawer written by my mom. The time is now

If you are ever going to love

Love me now while I can know

The sweet and tender feelings

Which from true affection flow

Love me now while I am living

Do not wait until I am gone

And then have it chiselled in marble

Sweet words on ice-cold stone

If you have tender thoughts of me

Please let me know now

If you wait until I am sleeping

There will be death between us

And I will not hear you then

So if you love me, even a little bit

Let me know while I am living

So that I can treasure it

Now she is gone and I am sick with guilt

Because I never told her what she meant to me.

Worse yet, I did not treat her as she deserved to be treated.

I found time for everyone and everything else

But I never made time for her.

It would have been easy to drop in for a cup of tea

And a hug but my friends came first.

Would any of them have done for me what my mother did, I know the answer.

When I called mom on the phone, I was always in a hurry.

I feel ashamed when I think of the times I cut her off, The times I retorted back to her, The times I glared at her in a angry mood when she wanted to correct me and guide me through the correct path.  I remember too, the times I could have included her in a trip out and did not.

Our children loved Grandma from the times they were babies.

They often turn to her for comfort and advice.

She understood them.

I realise now that I was too critical, Too short-tempered, too stingy with praise. Grandma gave them unconditional love.

The world is filled with sons, daughters and a child like me.

I hope they see themselves in this letter and realise from it.

If this has touched you, please pass it on to all the sons and Daughters who have to praise their mom for everything they are today.

 MOTHER

A mother is someone who guides and inspires.

She helps us to attain our dreams and desires.

Wisdom and insight are part of her way, and her faith in her children brightens their days.

All mothers are rich when they love their children.

There are no poor mothers, no ugly ones, no old ones.

Their love is always the most beautiful of joys.

What a mother can do …

My mother said to me, “If you become a soldier, you’ll be a general;

if you become a monk, you’ll end up as the pope.”

Instead I became a painter and wound up as Picasso.

A partially deaf boy came home from school one day carrying a note from officials at the school. The note suggested that the parents take the boy out of school, claiming that he was “too stupid to learn.”

The boy’s mother read the note and said, “My son Tom isn’t ‘too stupid to learn.’ I’ll teach him myself.” And so she did.

When Tom died many years later, the people of the United States of America paid tribute to him by turning off the nation’s lights for one full minute.

You see, this Tom had invented the light bulb—and not only that, but motion pictures and the record player.

In all, Thomas Edison had more than one thousand patents to his credit.

This also happened to me – to our Kindergaarten Class Teacher in Mafia Island – she cried a lot when I wrote to her!   The Story is This

Me my brother Mohamed and Sister Asya studied at her home. Our Marhem Father PBUH sent us there to Learn English. There was no Private School in Mafia then – until The Aga Khan Primary School came.   I am older 3 years to my sister, 2 to my Brother.

Mrs Dias (PBUH) fought for me to be put in Standard 3 – not 1 where I was put first with my brother and sister.   After a week I was moved to Class 2 , then 3 – I was to go for Class 4 but The School Inpector now refused to support it.   She was the Great Inspiration for me to succeed academically.

The Rest is History.   When she died, she had my letter in her Special Box.   So who cares if people support me for my books or not now – BECAUSE I KNOW I will WIN TOO One Day – Inshallah Allah Kareem – GOD IS GREAT   Majid

Witness Special : The Land Speaks Arabic – Al Jazeera TV – English

At the end of the 19th century Zionism appeared on the international scene as a minority political movement.

Although its early leaders spun theories around it, the real purpose was to create a Jewish state somewhere in the world, in Palestine if possible.

But at that time, as for the previous several thousand years, “the earth spoke Arabic” – Palestine was the home of the Arabs of Palestine, the Palestinians.

A history of the rise of Zionism and the displacement of the Palestinians in 1948.

The Land Speaks Arabic can be seen from Sunday, May 9, at the following times

GMT: Sunday: 1400; Monday: 0600, 1900; Tuesday: 0300.
